You did it! You made it through your 6 months of nutrition appointments. You lost the required amount of weight and you’ve consistently used the sleep apnea machine for 30 days. The initial consult with your surgeon is done and voila it’s time to schedule your surgery, start the two-week liquid diet and finish your remaining appointments and tests.
Now each program is different. For my program, I had to follow up my appointment with my surgeon with a series of tests, appointments and medicines:
- EKG
- a physical
- chest x-ray
- pregnancy test
- blood work
- pick up prescriptions
- appointment with pre-surgical department
If you ever took Phen-fen you will also need an echocardiogram.
All of these tests, medicines, and appointments are necessary because it helps your surgical team now if there are any issues that may effect the safety of your surgery.
After you pick up all of your prescriptions that the surgeon ordered and you’ve completed your tests, you take the data and medicines with you to your appointment with the pre-surgery department, so that they can talk to you about how you will use your medicines before and after surgery.
Right after my appointment, I sat down and talked about why I wanted to have surgery. You can view my musing here on YouTube.
You are on your way warrior! Don’t give up!
